Lease car drivers to see journey times cut on A52
06 July 2011
Van and car leasing customers in the Nottingham area are set to benefit from improved traffic flow on the A52 once a 16-week road works project, which is due to start this month, is completed.
The Highways Agency notes delays will be cut by over ten per cent thanks to works including the creation of a wider carriageway at certain locations along the 2.5-mile stretch between the roundabouts at Bramcote and Queen's Medical Centre.
Technology will also be used to coordinate traffic signals, while the eastbound bus lane will be shortened to ease peak traffic flow. Works are expected to start on July 19th.
Len Murray, project manager at the Highways Agency, said that while the work will have a positive result for car leasing customers and other drivers who use the road, the revamp will be disruptive.
"The work and lane closures will be limited to off-peak hours and overnight to minimise delays. We have also timed it to take place over the school summer holidays when traffic flows are traditionally lighter," he commented.
Narrow lanes and a reduced speed limit mean drivers will be delayed by between ten and 30 minutes.
A recent survey by insurance provider More Than found eight in ten lease car customers and other motorists encounter road works on a daily basis.
