Toyota challenges car leasing customers to go green
05 April 2011
A challenge has been set to car leasing customers and other motorists who opt to drive a Toyota Prius or Auris.
The car manufacturer has announced it will give a prize to the driver who manages to get the highest miles per gallon recording from its energy-saving vehicles.
Test centres around the UK are being set up to by Toyota dealerships to allow competitors to see if they can achieve the best score in a set time limit.
Official figures for the vehicles revealed that the Prius can go for 72.4 mpg, while the Auris is capable of 74.3 mpg. However, Toyota noted both have achieved higher scores in independent tests.
Challengers can try their luck at getting their location's best track time throughout April and May, with the top scorer in each area winning a prize.
A first batch of five Prius cars have recently been added to the fleet of cars used by airport taxi service Chequered Cars, with the company planning to add a total of 80 to its business.
