Nokia sets example with car leasing programme

News Home >> Car Leasing >> Nokia sets example with car leasing programme

British companies that are looking for ways to reduce their carbon emissions and help their employees become more environmentally aware may want to take note of some of the measures being employed by Nokia.

The mobile phone manufacturer has been encouraging its staff in Finland to use car leasing deals as a way of taking to the roads in greener vehicles.

It is just one of the steps taken by the firm which was highlighted in a feature for the Guardian about sustainable business.

A new car leasing policy was introduced in 2008, when staff were given an incentive to lease vehicles with emissions of less than 180g/km.

The newspaper revealed that after just one year, 93 per cent of cars on lease deals met these criteria, compared with 55 per cent in 2007.

With an increasing number of new green cars entering the market, it could be easier for organisations in the UK to follow Nokia's lead.

The Nissan Leaf will be launched later this year, while Peugeot Citroen will also be offering the iOn and C-Zero models on car leasing deals.
