New transport schemes could be a boon for car leasing companies

News Home >> Car Leasing >> New transport schemes could be a boon for car leasing companies

Car leasing companies looking to improve their green credentials stand to benefit from a raft of new transport schemes.

The Department for Transport has announced it is to pump £155 million into initiatives across the UK that aim to boost the economy and reduce carbon emissions.

Funding from the Local Sustainable Transport Fund has been awarded to 39 projects around the country, including schemes to bolster the infrastructure for electric vehicles and introduce smart ticketing.

Commenting on the launch of the scheme, transport minister Norman Baker expressed his delight at the move.

"We have empowered local authorities to create packages of sustainable initiatives that are tailored for their local areas and this is only the beginning - even more funding will be announced next summer," he said.

The move could also be a boon for Nissan, which recently set out its aim to become the leader in the field of zero-emissions vehicles.
