IAM offer parking tips to drivers
31 January 2012
Car leasing customers will soon get used to the feeling of driving a fresh new vehicle around and to prolong that sensation it is important that care is taken out on the roads.
The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) is running a series of recommendations for people looking to be safer in their cars.
This week, Simon Elstow, head of training, is advising motorists on parking.
He said that if drivers needed to pull up on the side of the road they should try to stay on the left-hand side and it was particularly important to follow this advice at night.
When people are in a car park it is better to reverse into a space. According to Mr Elstow, this will make it safer when leaving the space, but will also be more fuel efficient, as all reversing manoeuvres will be done with a warm engine.
Earlier this month, the IAM stated that it was important to keep windscreens clean to improve visibility during winter.
